We are filled with pride that our DreamCast Britannia Concrete Fireplace Mantel is prominently showcased on Episode 1 of Season 1 of Netflix’s “Dream Home Makeover.” This exquisite home renovation, masterminded by the renowned interior designer and influencer Studio McGee, has been graced with the elegance of our concrete fireplace surround. The focal point of this stunning home is our Britannia mantel style in a pristine Cloud White hue with a Smooth finish, creating a captivating contrast. This episode is titled Forever Home about a couple named Zann and Emilee Call who had been stuck on how to re-imagine an underutilized living area. They had left this space un-completed when they moved into and remodeled their home. Aspiring to entertain year-round, they asked the McGees to bring both brightness and moodiness to the large space.Before TransformationOne of the first things McGees noticed when walking into this space was the mantel. Shea’s plan was to remove the wall to have more space and put a fireplace mantel.Complete TransformationBecause the homeowners wanted a more traditional look, McGees selected Britannia and re-centered the fireplace mantel to become the room’s focal point of the dining room.This is our Britannia mantel, but with a small twist. Studio McGee ordered it with a custom height. The standard mantel is 51 1/4?H, most mantels are about 50 – 53? in height, because it’s a comfortable level to place items at, and if you want to mount a TV above. However, for this space Studio McGee wanted the mantel to be the focal point and grounding element for the room. So, this unit was made a whopping 60? in height. Generally we recommend the 60? for great rooms with taller ceilings, but here the overall effect is great. The taller than normal wainscoting really adds to overall effect for that modern traditional twist and gives a textured backdrop for the room keeping things airy.
