Epic Edge was selected for this project due to its composition, color, and physical properties. Like all Epic Plastics edging solutions, Epic Edge is made with post-consumer recycled HDPE2 waste, specifically milk jugs and laundry detergent bottles. Epic Plastics' commitment to environmentally sustainable edging products is unsurpassed in the industry. Epic Edge is a true composite product with 40% wood flour and 55% high density polyethylene 2. Wood flour reduces the expansion and contraction characteristics inherent in most plastic edging products. Additionally, the wood flour provides increased rigidity which is beneficial in long straight runs while still allowing for a radius as tight as 36 inches. From a maintenance perspective, the use of landscape edging has an impact on routine maintenance costs and minimizes the use of glyphosate or herbicides. From a design perspective, Epic Edge aids in preventing grass encroachment into the landscape beds and decomposed granite pathways. this maintaining the intended aesthetic qualities of the design.
