EnviroGrid ® is a three-dimensional cellular confinement system that provides a cost effective and sustainable solution to erosion control problems and soil stabilization needs. The geocell confines and strengthens infill material and significantly reduces the amount of infill material needed, allowing for the use of local aggregate. Made with ultrasonically welded HDPE virgin resin, EnviroGrid ® is designed for long term use in critical applications such as base stabilization, slope erosion, channel protection and retaining walls. The first cellular confinement system was developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for its use in Desert Storm in order to construct roads over soft ground. Since 1990, Geo Products has manufactured the EnviroGrid ® Geocell in the USA in its ISO 9001 certified facility with superior quality control standards. Geo Products specializes in offering a range of high quality polyethylene products, tailored to your needs. The EnviroGrid ® Geocell is manufactured in three different cell sizes or apertures with four different cell heights. The three cell apertures are EGA 20, EGA 30, and EGA 40, all offered in cell heights of 3", 4", 6", and 8". EnviroGrid is shipped in flat panels and expanded into the 3-D honeycomb structure. The standard EnviroGrid section is manufactured from 58 strips of HDPE ultrasonically welded together, resulting in a section length of 29 cells, with each strip being the approved width and 142 inches in length.

Greens Bayou Mitigation Bank

Wetlands Mitigation Banks preserve, enhance or restore natural resources throughout the permanently protected property. The Greens Bayou Wetlands Mitigation Bank (Greens WetBank) is the Harris County Flood District's longest established wetland mitigation bank and consists of 961 acres of permanently protected wetlands. The project consisted of repairing the all-weather access roads throughout the Greens Bayou Wetlands. EnviroGrid® Geocell played a significant role in providing sub-grade improvements throughout the wetland's utility access roadways. It is crucial that these roadways remain accessible through all weather conditions for flood control and wetlands operations. STABILITY FOR SITEWORK SOLUTIONS EnviroGrid® Geocell was chosen for its ability to provide a strong foundation to support heavy loads over soft, saturated soils that could withstand the flow velocity from the flooding that frequented the area.Through cellular confinement technology, the infill material is strengthened to provide a solid roadway that would remain functional despite the humid climate of the marshy wetlands. SUB-BASE IMPROVEMENT Subgrade preparation of the area consisted of installing a woven geotextile and 3" x 5" rock (also known as bull rock). The subgrade was then topped with 60,000 sf of 6" EnviroGrid® Geocell filled with a crushed limestone flexible base. The infill material was installed using the blade of a bulldozer to push material into the cells, which were then compacted using a rolling compactor. INCREASED ACCESSIBILITY FOR FLOOD OPERATIONS EnviroGrid® Geocell roads are ready for use the instant they are filled, providing a solution that provides immediate use after install, returning the 1.3 acre area back into service quickly and efficiently. By reinforcing the roads with EnviroGrid®, routine maintenance costs will be reduced, while providing all-weather accessibility of the roadways.
