Northern Kentucky University is located in Highland Heights, KY. NKU joined the NCAA as a Division I school after leaving the Atlantic Sun Conference back in 2015, they currently compete in the Horizon League. The University’s athletic teams carry the nickname “Norse.” Norse was a common term for Norsemen in the medieval period in connection to the Norse Vikings, making it the perfect nickname since NKU’s mascot is Victor E.
