Challenge: As demand for cloud services grows, data centers are expanding rapidly across the United States—along with their energy footprint. These facilities already account for roughly 3% of global electricity use, increasing pressure on operators to improve efficiency and reduce emissions. When Sabey Data Centers began developing its new 430,000-square-foot campus in Austin, Texas, the company sought lighting solutions aligned with its commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2029.Solution: Rather than installing conventional grid-powered lighting, Sabey selected a solar approach that eliminates ongoing electricity demand. Working with Sol and Acuity Brands, the project team specified 29 EverGen-M solar lighting systems equipped with Lithonia DSX0 fixtures. Each system includes dual photovoltaic panels and three gel batteries, with lighting layouts engineered to ensure reliable year-round performance—even during regional power outages.Impact: The completed installation provides reliable illumination for the data center’s parking areas while supporting Sabey’s sustainability goals.
