Kafka Granite, LLC is a family owned and operated company that was started in 1979 by Glenn Kafka. With hard work, perseverance, innovation and a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Kafka Granite has grown from their origin as a supplier of decomposed granite road material into one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of specialty aggregates and crushed stone in the United States. Their architectural aggregates, decomposed granite, boulders, and recycled products are used for many applications including, but not limited to, landscaping stone, architectural precast concrete, terrazzo flooring, epoxy resin tile, pathway and ballyard materials, and non-skid surfacing.

A rooftop oasis in the heart of downtown Chicago, The Meadow sits majestically atop the newly redeveloped Old Post Office. This three-plus acre meadow consists of more than 40,000 plants, a multi-sports court, tennis courts, and a quarter-mile walking/running path. Designed with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind, the urban meadow and pathways divert more than a quarter-million gallons of stormwater from becoming runoff.Kafka Granite’s Platinum Granite Stabilized Pathway Mix was used to create a firm yet water-permeable surface that blends naturally with the meadow’s greenery, while holding up extremely well for the more than 16,000 residents that utilize this shared space. Our Stabilized Pathway Materials assist in reducing urban heat islands and achieve ADA compliant surfaces.
