After a wildfire destroyed a tree on the client’s property, the designer saw an opportunity to preserve its form in an entirely new way: by transforming it into a one-of-a-kind fire sculpture. The original burned tree was used as the inspiration and mold for a hollow metal recreation, carefully constructed to capture the tree’s natural shape and character. Rather than surrounding the sculpture with fire, the vision called for flame to emerge from within it... turning the tree itself into the fire feature. Warming Trends engineered a custom vertical brass burner specifically for the sculpture. Extending more than eight feet vertically through the structure, the 330K BTU burner was designed with strategically positioned jets to distribute flame throughout the tree and create a dramatic, dimensional fire presentation. The CAD drawing even incorporates the tree silhouette into the engineering mock-up to illustrate how the burner integrates within the finished sculpture. The result transforms the remains of something lost into a striking piece of functional art, demonstrating how custom fire engineering can bring even the most unconventional design concepts to life.
